Default 8mo - how many solids meals?

How many solids meals is/was your LO having at 8 months?

DS is only have one meal per day. We're doing BLW.

Is this enough? Does it matter?

I keep trying to introduce a second meal, but I'm finding hard fitting it in between meals, naps, going out (shopping, baby groups etc), housework etc.

We have our evening meal too late for him to join us.

I'm so glad you posted this! We are wondering the same thing. I think Thomas may be ready to add breakfast (he usually eats dinner with us, or around the same time). I'll be hanging around to follow this thread too.

We did 2 meals at that age - breakfast and either lunch or dinner depending (at dc it was lunch - on weekends I did dinner). At 9.5 months now, we are starting to add our 3rd meal - finger food at the dinner table with the family. Hope this helps - it's really worked well for us.

To me one of the great things about doing baby led solids is that you let your LO set the pace.

At 8 mo my DS was only eating maybe a couple of bites a day. He was interested in exploring food, but not eating much.

Some time around 8.5 or 9 mo my DS suddenly got REALLY interested in solids we so started offering food more often during the day.

Other babies may be interested in solids sooner.

Isksam - I'm trying to follow his lead but it changes daily! Yesterday he just hit things with his food and threw it on the floor, today he devoured his rice cakes and spent ages sucking on a banana! Actually I suppose I could try a second meal on days like today when he's more interested!

I'm laughing with you. At 16 mo my DS changes daily - what foods he'll currently eat and how much.

We just continue to keep providing the opportunities for him to eat and offering healthy options.

It has gotten a bit easier now that DS can communicate (he's not talking much but understands what we say and can answer yes / no questions). At this point we do have a loose schedule of meals & snacks, but DS can also let us know that he's hungry and if we ask yes / no questions let us know what he wants to eat. (Do you want cheerios? DS shakes head no. Do you want waffles? DS shakes head no. Do you want yogurt? DS shakes head yes.)

    Hang in there!

My son was only doing one meal at 8 months as well. He had his solids at dinner every night but that was about it. Now I am trying to introduce breakfast, lunch, and dinner at 11 months. I dont know if what are are doing is BLS, or if I have just been too afraid to offer more food But I am finally feeling like he is ready to eat more, and he is showing more and more interest in feeding himself so we shall see how it goes! Your LO is just fine with one meal now, he is still getting everything he needs from you.

My lo just turned ten months and for the most part gets three meals a day (sometimes only two). On the weekends when I am home all day I like to be a baby hog and bf for the most part. I know it is kind of selfish, but this is my time with her so I don't always give her food...just bm.

My DD is almost 9 months (tomorrow ). She has 3 sometimes 4 meals a day. Thi is her schedule:
    Morning, cereal (rice or oatmeal)
    Noon, veggies
    Afternoon, fruit
And sometimes in the evening cereal again. That is the only way DH gets to feed her!
Sometimes she doesnt even finish her veggies and fruits, and they are just step 1! Cereal she usually eats 3 tablespoons.

Glad I happened upon this, because I've been a wreck. So my LO is 4 1/2 months, and started on solids (hated with a passion cereal). So I am giving her applesauce at supper only right now. Should I be giving her a yellow veggie though? Is one time a day sufficient or do I need to give more? I'm so confused...my doctor is real laid back and won't give a straight answer (basically telling me whatever is fine); my mom is banging down the doors TELLING me what to do (love her to pieces, but she forgets at times who's baby it is...very thankful for her though): start applesauce now (which I heard start a veggie after cereal), she can start juice (ummmm no), and she needs to be eating more and drinking less. I don't know, 4 months just sounds too early for all of that at once? What is your experienced mom advice...because that is what I'm needing right now (she is loving eating the applesauce, and I am sure would like anything else flavored...she's an eater).
