    I was thinking I would strap it to the wall and decorate the top part which is out of reach.

    you can wire it to a curtian rod or something else thats along the wall so it cannn't fall over.
    WE use paper ornamants on the bottom made of old christmas cards.

    We did a play yard (bought one and separated it for the tree and the fireplace) and non-breakable ornaments. This is my first tree in years!!!!
