    Default packing away the pump

After 14 mo and 3 weeks of pumping - I packed up my pump today and put it away.

Unless there is an urgent need - I am officially all done with pumping.

I started pumping when DS was 4 weeks old. DS is now 15 mo 3 weeks.

DS was only taking 3 to 4 oz of EBM at preschool, so DH and I (with consultation with a dietitian) decided that we feel comfortable with DH geting other beverages during the day. DS nurses about 4 - 6 times a day, so is still getting plenty of "the good stuff" directly from the tap.

I only have about 30 oz EBM in the freezer, but DH is comfortable that if there was an emergency DS would be ok on solids and other beverages.

I thought I'd be happy to officially "hang up the horns" but confess that I do so with a bit of sadness because it feels like the first step towards eventual weaning.

congrats... i hate pumping and only have a few more weeks of it. Once Michael is 1, I will give him regular milk during the day and from 3:30 on, he will get my BM from tap!
Proud Mommy to Michael who is 3 now! Michael was nurseynursed for 2 years!!
I did not make up this persona, but if I did, I would make myself 50 pounds lighter and 5 years younger!!!!

Thanks! I'm a bit nervous about this, but think that we've made a good decision. With DS food allergies I've been pretty stressed out about his nutrition and not sure how critical those 3 to 4 oz of EBM have been to his diet, so it was quite reassuring to get positive feedback from a dietitican who works with food allergies AND is pro-BF.

I feel very lucky to have my little boy

And I feel very lucky to have the wonderful support of the LLLadies here!!
