What is fenugreek? (sp?)

I tried to read the LLL links, but my computer is being stupid and I can't open any of the articles. I don't know what fenugreek is...and I never thought I would have this problem. But, I am afraid I MIGHT not have enough milk....as my baby is losing weight and finishing both breasts rather quickly. I need to increase my milk supply asap to see if that's the problem...since the doctor is saying I should supplement with formula Help! I need info quick. Also, how do I get fenugreek? Is it an over the counter thing?

yeah, you can buy fenugreek at GNC stores..you get 100 capsuls for $6.99. I had to buy them also because i got sick over one weekend and didn't breastfeed because i didn't want my baby to get sick so we formula fed and my milk supply dropped dramatically. I got fenugreek and it starts working in a little over 72 hours.

I tried it and only needed to take it a couple of days and it worked well...for me anyhow.

I was able to get Fenugreek at the local grocery. Wegmans to be exact in the natural food section.
I do have to say it made my LO's tummy upset so a heads up.. I am not the only one that had that happen too.
Good luck to you!! We went through the same hurdle with our Ped and having to supp with formula.

don't be afriad to call your local leader she can help...
tell us more about babies nursing patterns, sometimes just putting them to the breast more often helps with weight gain.
Some babies need to nurse up to 12 times in 24 hours to get the weight gain.

Has anyone here taken Fenugreek for more than 4 weeks? I have been taking it for maybe 2-3 weeks. It wasn't doing anything to me because I still wasn't pumping enough so I kept taking it. I started to pump and breastfeed more and it's only now that I'm seeing a bit of an improvent in my supply.
