Default Winter Fruits and Citrus Questions...

So, now that I have cleared my stores out of all mangoes....I am at a loss as to what fruits to offer to D. Basically I feel that we are in a rut of apples, bananas, and pears. During the summer he loved watermelon, cantelope, peaches, etc. But those are getting pretty expensive and we like to buy as local as possible.

I know its natural for our bodies to adjust to eating what is in season. How can I ensure I am offering a balanced diet?

Second question: when should I introduce citrus?

    Thanks

    Citrus after 1 year.

Not sure about winter fruit, haven't really thought about it.

Oh - how about dried fruit - prunes, dates, apricots, raisins?

I have same problem...but I have found canned peaches that are in their own juice or pear juice (no syrup/sugar). I would rather give fresh, but dd loves peaches so much so I have given her these on occaision. I'm hoping some other folks have suggestions too, but I like the dried fruit idea

    I miss you Casey

I guess my concern with dried fruits in the HIGH sugar content.

I only give him dried fruit with no added sugar. And organic so it doesn't have preservative in it.

We get all sorts of dried fruits that do not have any extra sugar added - raisins, cherries, blueberries, prunes are favorites for DS.

We mostly have to make sure that DS doesn't eat too much dried fruits and give himself the runs

How about frozen fruit? I get frozen organic blueberries and cherries and use them in DS (soy) yogurt or just give him the blueberries right out of the freezer. The cherries I cut either in half or quarters depending on the size.

we also get dried fruit that has no sugar added (we buy it in bulk at sunflower market....or the healthfood store)

frozen is a great idea.....i've got frozen fruits on his tray right now so that when he wakes up, they wont be quite so frozen

We use both dried and frozen. Abigail has been eating lots of apples and pears, and loved a kiwi when I gave her one the other day. We've introduced citrus, but she hasn't been all that impressed with it On the other hand, she loves brussels sprouts (not a fruit, I know, but how weird is that?).
