Question tandem nursing and working mothers

    Hi!

I'm a spanish speaker mom, I'm very sorry if I can let me understand.

I'm trying to look for research, books, articles, experiences about mothers who combine tandem nursing with work outside home.

    Anyone who can help?

    Thanks in advance,

There's not much information out there about it, because not many people get to do it!

If you haven't already, read through the book _Adventures in Tandem Nursing_ by Hilary Flower. http://www.lalecheleague.org/Web_sto...=7653039_23333

You can pump milk for your babies while you're apart. Make sure your infant gets enough, and the toddler can get anything else. I'm assuming your older child is eating other foods during the day, so your expressed milk is optional. Some toddlers refuse to take pumped milk from a cup, but will happily continue nursing when with mom.

You should also look through the book _Nursing Mother, Working Mother_ for tips on combining working with breastfeeding. http://www.lalecheleague.org/Web_sto...=7653039_23333

The book _Mothering Your Nursing Toddler_ by Norma Jane Bumgarner also touches on this. http://www.lalecheleague.org/Web_sto...=7653039_23333

I'm thinking that when you return to your children after working all day, they are both going to want to spend time nursing with you, so don't plan on doing much around the house during that time. Your children will want to reconnect with you.

I'll look around and see if I can find more information on this for you.

    Thanks a lot Shannon!!

I already read Flower's book, and Pryor's too. But, I didn't find anything about this specific situation.

I'm planning to get pregnant soon, and I have a 2 years and 8 months toddler. But, I work 8 hours a day plus the time I spend coming to the office and returning home.

Here, in Lima, we have a support group (not LLL) for working mothers, and there were so many questions about tandem nursing during the reunions. So, I want to know more about it.

I will take a look to the link you sent (kellymom).

    Thanks again,

Thank you for posting this. I just recently found out that I am pg. with #2 and am still nursing my 13 month old DS. He definitely is not ready to wean so I'm planning on following his lead and tandeming if that is what he wants. I did find a few stories in http://www.lalecheleague.org/books/hirkani.html about women who worked and tandem nursed. I am also looking for advice for anyone who has done this. Thanks.
