    Exclamation Herbs

Hi again! Second post, second question:

First child I suffered from some postpartum anxiety and depression. Second baby, I took omega 3 capsules before and after birth (currently taking) and have had very mild anxiety and virtually no depression. I really believe this has been a lifesaver and a huge part of the problem the first time around. However, I just saw that the blend that I am taking which contains flax, borage (primrose) along with the good fish oil is possibly NOT good to take while breastfeeding! This isn't good news. The fish oil in my capsules come from good sources, containing no lead or mercury. But, it was the borage and flax there might be a problem with. It's working so well for me mentally but I don't want to take something that is unsafe for my dd. Any information on this? If this has been answered before, direction to that post would be great! Thanks!

    Diane

Here's some information that might give you a basic idea of the possible issues with the components of your supplement...

    Borage:

    Evening primrose:

Thank you! yes, I read that about borage, which was why I was alarmed! But, after rereading it, I see that it was probably talking about unregulated amounts for adults being possibly toxic. Since there is a supplement that one can take to possibly increase milk supply with it in it, I assume my women's omega supplement is pretty safe for the baby via breast milk transfer.
