Default Pumping to keep from drying up

I am having to wean my son while I go through a detox. I would really like to keep my supply so that i can return to nursing when i am done. I unfortunately didn't think about this option until recently and he is only taking the morning feeding from me now. I know that i will have to just pump and dump, but it was so emotional for me to quit to begin with that I would love to keep my supply up in case i can return to breastfeeding him. We are looking at at least a month of me not being able to feed him. He is already four months old and had 3 months of exclusive breastmilk. This past month he has just had one bottle switched out per week... so he has still had quite a bit of breastmilk this month as well. I will also have enough stored to continue to give him one feeding of breastmilk a day for another month. With that said, i would still like to be able to return to feeding him if at all possible and do not want to have to try to relactate from scratch. Any advice?

What kind of detox? Is this due to a medical issue (not asking to be nosey, just wanting to help...)?

It's absolutely possible to pump and maintain milk production. I would suggest checking out these resources:

And when the detox is over...

My detox is for my arthritis. I would be taking supplements that i wouldn't want to pass onto my LO. I don't know how long this will take so i was trying to figure out how little i could pump to keep from having to start from scratch if I am able to go back to breastfeeding. I am already down to only producing about 5 ounces/day simply because i was down to one feeding when i thought of doing this. So, i'm not sure if the pumping will be the stimulation i need to maintain.

You can totally pump to keep your supply, it just make take some practice to get more than you are now, but keep in mind that any supply can be brought up once baby starts nursing again
