Hi ladies. I've been lurking for awhile...I love the signatures!
Here is a bit of an intro before I launch into my problem--
Married mommy of two, Luke-3, Penelope-8 weeks old. I breastfed Luke for one year and hope to do the same with Pen, if not longer. First baby was a champ after a week of slow starting. Penelope *was*, or so I thought. Yes, she is gaining well and is thriving...but...gosh...I'm in some pain. I think she/we have thrush. White tongue, pink nipples, some shooting pain and itchiness, generally. I went to Whole foods and got some acidophilus (sp.?) and have been taking that and giving some to her daily. I assumed that was it, but, here are a couple of other issues at hand:
-really antsy when nursing (I am)...it almost tickles too much...its somewhat itchy to feel her nurse, particularly on the right side. I want to say it's her tugging at it toward the end of the day when she marathon-nurses, but, I don't know. I have pretty dry skin and some stretch marks there, so, that could be it.
-two tiny red dots on the same breast. Not sure if they are little cuts from her nails (has that happened to anyone here?)
-generally pretty sore breasts...and I don't remember that being the case with my son.
Last night scared me a bit...I think I was laying on my right one and I woke up and it was throbbing so badly I wanted to cry. I relieved the pressure and it stopped. But, both are just SORE.
Confession, though...my husband supplements with a bottle of formula in the middle of the night and we do not co-sleep. I also suffer from some postpartum health anxiety (as in, everything is cancer ) so this is worrying me. I do get engorged at night...
What do you think? I've pretty much just told you my life story in my first post. I really don't want to stress about this but need some "other mommy support". Any advice?
