Default How long in the refrigerator?

I started my son on squash this weekend and made it myself. Obviously, he can't eat a lot of it, so how long can it stay in the refrigerator before I need to freeze it?

I would freeze it immediately after you make it. I would pour my pureed veggies and fruits into ice cube trays . . . each cube equals about 1 tablespoon. When frozen, pop out the cubes and store them in plastic bags or containers and stack 'em up in the freezer. When you're ready to feed, grab a cube or two and either defrost in the microwave or double boiler.

If I'm not mistaken, you can keep food that you immediately freeze this way for up to six months in the freezer. When my second child was a baby, my eldest got a kick out of choosing foods at the store. And she would help me dream up interesting combinations (some I tried, some I didn't!).

    Have fun!
