I think Dr. Sears recommends pulling the baby in to the breast covering his nose so he lets go then let him back out. Do that a few times, and he should learn that biting = can't breath and may go easy on you. I've also heard that biting may be a sign of needing something to teeth on and not actually being hungry, but you of course know your baby best! I will be right there in 6 weeks, so you have my

Once you've been bitten really hard, even the slightest nibble hurts for a while. Engorgement will not help matters but of course you want your nipples to heal. So I don't know how you want to handle that. My dd wouldn't take a bottle so I understand the crying. Fortunately for me, my dd didn't get her first tooth until she was 11 mos.

But it was around 6 mos that she tried chomping down. I did pull her in to unlatch her, but the way I got her to stop for good was to pull my shirt back down, gently but quickly set her on the floor and walk away. This was very upsetting to her and I came back to her in less than a minute, but it worked. I could NOT say OUCH! or anything else that may be interesting or entertaining, even in a frightening way. I had to leave her immediately. It was really one of the only times that a "time out" has been effective with her.
