This is my second baby. I BF my first one until 1 year old and never encountered this problem.
DD and I have had thrush since the week of Xmas. I didn't realize that's what it was until we went for her one month check up on Jan. 3rd. Since then we've gone through 3 weeks of Nystatin for her and just about a whole tube of the generic version of Lotrimin AF on my nipples. I've had both nipples cracked to the point where I had to use a nipple sheild.
Now I've done everything I was told to do. Wash my bras in hot water with bleach and dry on high heat, wash nipples after every feeding and let air dry, Lotrimin cream, vinegar/water mixture etc. DD's mouth cleared up two days ago, but my nipples are still red and very sensitive. I also have a burning sensation and they hurt when my shirt rubs against them. I just don't know what else to do. The lotrimin cream dries out my nipple so bad that its starting to make them crack again so I've been alternating that with the Lansinoh cream to get some moisture back. Which I'm sure probably isn't helping.
Suggestions anyone? I'm about ready to give up.
