If you had implants go through the nipple/areola you do run a higher risk of there being trauma to nerves and milk ducts. If you have a decrease in sensation to the breast(s) it is possible that there was nerve trauma, but that doesn't mean that all connections were severed as milk ducts can grow back (although you may still have issues with lower production).

Make sure to nurse often on demand 8-12 feedings in a 24 hour period, baby is having good out put, etc. Get in touch with the lactation consultant and your LLL group to make sure things are off to a good start early. HTH

Wow thanks! That was useful. I was afraid that BA automatically meant no breastfeeding, which means I wouldn't even consider it. I was reading an article on different incisions and i guess I would have to go for the ones that are done below the armpit or the bellybutton. Thanks again! Here's the link to the article if you want to read it.

    Hi Paulette
You are considering having implants? Is that correct? If you choose to have it done, I strongly suggest speaking with a couple of different surgeons to get a couple of opinions, and of course do your research on which methods are better than others. It sounds like your future breastfeeding ability is important to you

    Thanks jen,

it is very important to me. Since I plan to have a baby in a couple of years I have decided to put off the BA till after..just to be on the safe side. And I realized that breastfeeding will help increase the size of my breasts anyway so I'll see if that will do. Less pain (if I don't count the pain from childbirth..LOL) and less money to spend! Yes?
