I get the DCP to run the bottle from the fridge under a warm tap and gently swirl the bottle to get the fat that has separated and stuck to the sides of the bottle to reintegrate back into liquid. If you try to swirl the milk whilst it is cold & separated then the fat forms lumpy bits that dont get through the teat.

Once the milk is mixed properly, it is then left alone out of the fridge for say 30 minutes to warm/cool to room temperature which is just how DS likes it.

An alternative is just to take the milk out of the fridge about 3 or 4 hours before a feed is due and let it heat up naturally.

I give my DS cold milk sometimes, if we don't have the chance to warm it. He doesn't mind a bit! I have found that the warm milk makes him nice and sleepy though, if I'm trying to get him to sleep I warm it up well.
