    Default Concerned

My little guy is now 1 year old. He hasn`t been nursing well since who knows when. He`s also had recurring UTIs. Wet diapers are always a concern.

Lately, it`s been getting worse. On good days he has the required 4-5 wets/day. But on hot days-like today- his diapers are mostly dry. It`s noon here in Japan and he`s only peed once. That was his morning diaper. He hasn`t nursed much today but he had some milk (not much) and also a couple of oz of juice. He`s been sweating a lot too. Could it be the cause for the lack of wets?
    TIA

    Happy birthday, Shion!

I think the diaper count is for a 24 hour period, right? Does he drink water at all? Or just milk/breast milk? I would think that his lack of wet diapers is because of the heat and him sweating. I think that the wet diaper count goes down a bit when they are around 12 months old, too. My BIL (who is a doc) said it is not unusual for 1 year olds to go 5-6 hours without urinating.

I would keep trying to give him something to drink to keep up with the hot weather. Hope you both keep cool.

Wow, your words are such a relief! Yes, he`s been going quite long without urinating. I`m glad your BIL is a doctor
He does drink water, juice and tea also. Just not much. He loves to play with his sippy cup and spit out whatever is in it. I will give him some more water after he wakes up.
    Thank you

    Almost forgot. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KALI!!!

My lo just turned a year old and just switched over this week from peeing almost every hour to staying dry for 4-5 hours at a time. It kind of freaked me out too, but he is fine
