Default How much BMilk should a solid-food eating baby get?

My twins are 7.5 mos old and eat solid food very well and drink 5 5/6 oz bottles (not big 'volume drinkers - never have been). Some people are telling me they should only get 3 bottles a day at this age, but I thought that BM should be their main source of nutrition. My twins are on the lean side (not sure if that is due to a breastmilk diet vs formula), but I like to give them solid food for added caloric intake. So what am I to do?
    This is a current schedule:

    6:00 bottle
9:00 bottle (maybe cereal - but then they don't drink well)
    11:00 food
    1:00 bottle
    4:00 bottle
    5:00 food
    7:00 bottle

"Some people" can give bad advice!

As long as your LOs are happy and healthy what you are doing is fine. People push solids at 6 mos, but most LOs can subsist perfectly on BM until 1 year old...

Your babies (any baby) should recieve breastmilk (or formula, as the case would be) as their primary source of nutrition until 12 months of age. Before that, solids are only necessary for experimenting.

I agree, "Some people can give bad advice."

I think the requirement is 24-32 oz of BM daily until they are 12 months old. My son was losing weight so I used to put avocado and banana puree into BM and give it to him once a day. He loved it (now he is bored with it though so I put the avocado puree into his yogurt drink) and it helped him gain some weight between 9 and 12 months. He went from 40% to 44% in 3 months.

My DD is 7 mtns old and nurses/bottle 4 times a day. She is getting close to weaning out one bottle.

    8am nurse
    930 cereal with fruit
    1230 bottle/nurse
    130 veg and fruit
    430 bottle-close to weaning out
    630 veg and fruit
    8pm nurse

I have totally gone on her cues....She is going longer b/w her "lunch" and afternoon bottle, so soon I think she will go from lunch to dinner to bedtime nursing. I wouldn't always listen to all advice, but take cues from you LOs.

By the way...after having one...I can't imagine having 2. That's awesome that you are able to breastfeed this long. You are amazing

My LO is 11 months and 1 day and here is what she has:

    6am- nurses both sides flat!
9:00am has 2-3 ounces of diced fresh fruit at daycare and 2 oz of Baby oatmeal (made with my milk).
    10:30am - 3 oz bottle
    12:30pm - 5 oz bottle
1pm (or after bottle) lunch: Generally 2-3 oz of noodles (plain nothing on them), 2 oz of a steamed fresh veggie (peas is her favorite), 1 jar of baby food if she wants it, and a dozen O's because she loves them.
    5pm bottle - 5 oz
6:30 or 7pm Nurses both sides
8pm - 1 or 2 jars of baby food (stage 2 or 3) and fruit or veggies fresh (chunked). .5mL of liquid vitamin every other day (if I remember - since she is still on my milk I'm not concerned but doc said to give 1ml every day...we give .5ml every few days).
    Bath time...Dinner is messy sometimes
9:30 Nurse and then put her down for bed.

When we are home (if I stay home with her or on weekends she nurses all day and has her first solids around 3pm. Her choice...so we just go with it.

    2 LOs must be amazing....Congrats!
