Default silly question...but really don't know what to do

    Hey all,
I have read a lot about nursing laying down and have tried it, with some success at times, but where I get stuck is with the burping. My lo eats a few times throughout the night, and we have tired the laying down feeding, but then how do you burp your lo? It seems that it defeats the purpose to nurse laying down if I have to sit up to burp my lo. Anyone out there have any good ideas???

    Thanks.

Hi, I dont know if this is good or bad but when I did it laying down I never burped her. We both would dose off until the next feed. I havent had any problems with it so I just kept doing it.

You don't have to get up- just drape your baby over your hip, with her tummy down, and rub/pat her back until you get a burp.

We always fall back to sleep before we get to that part!

I would just sit up, burp her and then roll to the other side or I wait until I'm putting her in her bassinet and do it then

I stopped burping my son at night after he was about 3 months old when his gas problem was solved.

We don't burp unless we have to get up 4 a diaper change. We just fall asleep nursing.

I put her over my hips and tap her back! Works almost every time! Plus I love the way her tummy feels on mine

I always fall back to sleep before burping my DD. You're right it would defeat the whole purpose if you had to sit up to burp your baby while nursing side to side.
