    Default Dilating Eye Drops?

Do I need to pump & dump after having my eyes dilated? I don't want DS feeling any effects if it can get into the milk. I looked on Kellymom and didn't see the drug (tropicamide) listed.

Thanks for any experience you might have with this.

    younger then.
I don't think I would be willing to pump and dump.
ITs such a little bit of meds. that they put in your eye.
Could the test wait untill your next exam?

I agree, only a drop probably wouldn't make it into your milk. I had the same issue when my lo was 2 weeks old, I had a bad eye problem due to wearing my contacts too much. I don't remember if they dialated my eyes at that point, but my doc knew I was nursing so I trusted his judgement- the only reason I went to the office was to make sure Visene(sp) was ok to use because it says "check with your doc if you are preg or nursing". He knew I was vigilant about not using anything dangerous. When he had to prescibe me some steroid eye drops, he called and ok'd it with my ob. So I would double check with my ob or ped if you are concerned.

    TROPICAMIDE PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, any illnesses or allergies. TROPICAMIDE should be used cautiously in the elderly. TROPICAMIDE should be used with caution during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

i would be shocked if you have to pump and dump b/c my lo had to have her eyes dilated by the same drops given toadults when she was 3 mos old...so, if lo can be given this medication, why not the mama?
