    Default Pumping and Breast Compressions

I was just curious to see if anyone does breast compressions (similiar to how you would with LO at the breast) when pumping.

Does this greatly increase your milk output? Does it cut back on your pumping time? For double elec pump users, if you do compressions, how do you do this with both pumps on?

You can do compressions while pumping. I don't think it decreases the time it takes to pump, but it can increase your overall output.

If you want to do compressions while double pumping, you might want to try a "hands free" set up.

If I'm feeling a little lumpy then before I start pumping I massage a little (I use the medela pis). I also will hold the flanges between my first and middle finers while doing light massage on the sides with my thumbs. If it is really bad I switch the pump to only do one side and compress. I also have a photo of Mason to look at while pumping, this really helps my milk let down.
