Can I add freshly pumped milk to milk that is in the refrigerator from the same day? I have only been getting very small amounts when I pump and I need to have at least 3 ounces for my baby's cereal.

Yes you can. You should chill before you do it though, so both milk's are at the same temperature. How old is your baby?

Thanks for your help. My daughter is 7 months. I am also all of a sudden having a problem with my milk supply. I contacted a LLL Leader and am waiting for a call back for help with that.

If you need anymore help, just ask! I had a dip in supply at around that time, Emily was just so busy that her sporadic nursing schedule was to blame, I think.

SO can you not pump directly into a container with older milk in it? this would make things easier when go back to work. if I put it in the frige and let it chill to the same temperture, it will seperate then the cream sticks to the side.

I have been told that the requirement of cooling the milk is for when adding milk to previously frozen milk. You do not want the warm milk to partially defrost the frozen milk and allow bacteria to grow. I have been told that it is okay to add room temp milk to cool milk. I do this myself sometimes. you might do a search at kellymom.com. this site has a lot of info and probably has the links to any research.

Babygurl, I'd really like to know this answer as well. Let me know if you find out somewhere else. Thanx.
