    If your baby has true constipation (dry, hard, difficult to pass stools--rabbit pellets is a good discription), it's worth mentioning to your doctor.

    If true constipation isn't the issue, my best suggestion is to try backing off on the solids for a few days and increase nursing. Then, you could consider offering an ounce or so of water with his solids. Once solids are introduced, some babies do need a little water to help keep things moving along.

    We've just gotten through the same thing with our 7 month old.

    And barley is a great cereal to use for a starter food if your baby is getting constipated with first foods. Olive oil is supposed to help too. Increase the water intake?
