    Question itchy???

    What would cause nipples/areola to be itchy?
    Married mama with 4 kiddos...2 girls (11 & 6) and 2 boys (21mo & 3mo)

    not really, I have lots of let downs (even when not feeding). baby will be 2 weeks thursday

    did you get anti-botic in hospital?
    That can cause the thursh.
    Cracks or bleeding?
    Are you putting anything on your nipples?
    Do you feal like your engored?

    Oh no!!!! I pray to God this is not so!!! I did have a sore when I first came home, but everything seem to be going good. I am going to call the doctor tomorrow to see if he can take a look. Thanks andrea_ohio! I seen people talk about this.. will I have to stop bf?

    nope! you can still breastfeed.
    Don't jump the gun. IF you don't have any pain thats a good sign!

    cracks can hurt! And sometimes it takes them a while to heal.

    No antibiotics! I am using 100% lanolin. No engorgement, Unless I skip a feeding....

    itchy breasts were the first signs i got when i had thrush.......prob not what you wanted to hear....hth

    Basically all BF advice I have ever seen says "Keep BFing, even if you have plugged ducts, mastitis, cracked nips, thrush, whatever". I have had mastitis, thrush and sore, cracked nips and just keep bfing...it hurts for a while, but gets better.
