Default pumping exclusively with WAY too much milk

My baby is 3 weeks old and I am pumping exclusively. However, I am getting about 9 - 12 oz each pumping. This is about 54 - 72 oz a day, if I pump 6 times a day. My breasts leak in between, and I know the breasts are not totally emptied with each pumping. I am storing the extra milk, but am running out of storage room!

What can I do to lessen the amount? It seems I am getting more and more each day!

    Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm in the same boat, though I don't make quite as much as you. I only make 6-8 at a pumping, pumping 7 times (I'm cutting back to 6 this week to see what happens). Sometimes I pump as much as 10+.

What I did was change my schedule.

    I did 8,11:30,2:30,5:30,9:00,12:00,4:00.

    Now I'm doing 12:00, 4:00, 8:00, 12:00, 4:00, 8:00.

For some strange reason I've been really, really full at every pumping. I would expect it for the 4:00, since I'm increasing the time 1 1/2 hours for that one. But the noon feeding? I'm only going a half hour. Even more curious is the 4:00 am feeding -- I've been doing that one for weeks, so no change there.

how old is your baby? are you pumping exclusively as well?

i do not always pump at exactly the same time - sometime it is every 3 hours, sometimes every 5 hours. do you think that makes a difference?

She is 9 weeks (2 months) old. I exclusively pump and pretty much have done so since she was born. She got supplemental feedings of formula her first few days, but after that, strictly expressed breast milk.

    1) Rent a hospital grade pump
    2) Pump every 3 hours for 20 minutes

That's how I ended up with it. Started out with me pumping 3 oz, about 1 1/2 each side. Ended up with me pumping 9 oz, 4 on the left and 5 on the right.

your baby is young yet and will start taking more milk at each feed.
Are you happy with just feeding with the bottle?
Do you want to get the baby back to just the breast?

I am PE and I would really love to breastfeed. I have never had much help. I dont know how. My daughter is 14 weeks. Is is still possible? and if so, How? What do i need to do? What is a good amount of milk? I make 20 ounces a day is that normal?
