    Default mastitis

What causes mastitis? I am developing it on one breast - an OB told me it is caused "by the baby's mouth".

How can I prevent it in the future? I am on antibiotics now, and hope they work!

Mastitis is caused by not completely and frequently emptying the breast. It has nothing to do with the baby's mouth!! Did you become engorged or get a plugged duct? Both of these things will lead to mastitis. I know that it is very painful, but the best thing to do for it is to continue to nurse frequently. Hope you are feeling better soon! Get plenty of rest! Let others help you out! How old is your baby?
