Default 4 1/2 week old causing cracking/bleeding nipples?!

I have a 4 1/2 week old and within the past week I've developed EXTREMELY sore/cracking/little bleeding nipples! Started on just left side and now right side kills too! I'm in incredible pain!

I've been applying lanolin after each feeding and trying SOO hard to make sure his latch is right. I've BF my 2 other children w/o any problems so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong this time. I'd REALLY appreciate some help though because every time I nurse I want to throw up from the pain! Thank you for any responses!

Cracked nipples and extreme pain can also be a symptom of thrush, especially if your latch and feeding were going well up until now. Do you get any shooting pains through your breasts (either during or after a feeding- mine occurred about 2 hours after a feeding). Any white patches in baby's mouth, or is baby unusually fussy? And from what I understand, thrush is most common at around the 4 week mark. Just a thought... hth!!!
