    Default Clogged Duct...

Does anyone have any suggestions for a recurrent clogged duct? My LO is 11 weeks old and this is the second time I've had it happen to the same duct. I'd like to know how to prevent it (if possible) and any techniques to soothe that oh-so-sensitive lump!!!

If it's in the same spot, you might consider the possibility that your bra is causing it. Here's some additional possible causes and what to do about it. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/...-mastitis.html

This sounds funny but... They say that heat is good, but it's hard to get a heating pad on your breast, especially if the clogged duct is in a weird place (mine was on the inside) so... take a sock and fill it with rice and tie it shut. Put it in the microwave and you have a malleable heating pad. The rice provides this great moist heat but be careful---rice can get really hot---you don't want to burn yourself! Then you can tuck the rice sock right inside your bra.

You'll look funny, but it feels so good!

As far a prevention goes, I think you have to keep your breasts empty. Easier said than done. Definetly be aware if your bra is doing it. I've sworn off underwire all together!
