Sounds like you're doing just the right thing and like the damage done wasn't too bad, since it's healing up quickly. Glad to hear it!
I love my kids. I care for them accordingly. What more can I say?

    Awww....

I understand how you feel. My daughter was 4 weeks old on Thursday. The first time I pumped, I experienced the same excrutiating pain. My nipples hurt so bad that day that I could barely hold my LO. By the end of the day, the pain went away. I haven't used the Lanolin (spelling??) cream, but I have a friend that lives by it! She says it makes your nipples feel so great. Have you tried ice?

I know you are feeling so frustrated and scared, but I was in your exact shoes last week, and I am proud to say that today I am pain free. I think it just takes a while for your nipples to get used to the pump. Keep trying and don't give up. I understand how you need to have constant reassurance, because I, too, am taking this nursing thing day by day. Good luck!!

    Awww, thanks Jess.
    Thank you Jolie and everyone.
    WHat a great board.
The last two feeds were not bad. The last one on the right breast...the one with the murderous pain....DID NOT HURT wow. amazing.
She ate about half hour ago and is sleeping like a baby (corny).
Now I'm tired and must rest, since she'll be up again soon. She feeds once around midnight and again closer to morning
    thank you for the encouragement

Don't feel bad. I have an Avent manuel pump too and I don't find it comfortable at all. It's ok for us because I don't ever pump and he never gets a bottle. But I wanted to tell you it might just be the pump that is pulling on your nipples and causing lots of pain. I did find that mine were sore after the few times that I used it. I hope everything gets better.

I wanted to respond when I first saw your post, but Missy would not let me!

I'm so glad that everything has improved for you though. I went through the same thing...tears, pain, bleeding nipples, so glad that I persevered! Congratulations to you. :tumbsup
