    Red face Products

I was just wondering, are products like stretchmark cream from avon & tummy firming cream from Yves Rocher safe to use while nursing? LMAO Seriously though, are there any "beauty" products out there that you should not use when nursing? What about hair dye? Can I dye my hair? TIA

My dr told me Mederma was fine. It is for removing scars and such. Has done a GREAT job with marks.

As for hair - I dyed mine with an over the counter one and all was fine.

    Good luck!

Man, I would probably have to use an entire tube of maderma on my belly at each application!

I have HORRIBLE stretchmarks! I tried everything to make them not happen, but they still appeared!

As for dying your hair, this is from an LLL page http://www.lalecheleague.org/FAQ/hair.html :

According to the Breastfeeding Answer Book, published by La Leche League International, no evidence exists that the nursing mother's use of hair-care products, such as hair dyes and permanents, has any effect on her breastfeeding baby. When a mother uses hair-care products, some of the chemicals will be absorbed through her skin. If her scalp is healthy and intact, less will be absorbed than if the skin on her scalp is scratched or abraded.

FYI to Mommymilk -- whether a person gets stretchmarks or not is largely due to genetics (according to the dermatologists I've consulted, anyway!), so if your mom and her mom got them, there wasn't much you could have done to prevent them! I think of stretchmarks as hard-earned body art - well, I try to, anyway.
