    Default Does stress affect production?

I can't tell for sure b/c I know of friends who have gone through depression and still strictly breastfed yet for myself, I wonder if a period of stress may have affected my milk production.

It did for me. My husband left for boot camp 1 1/2 months ago, and my supply dropped quite a bit. I continued to EBF and offered the breast more frequently. Also got mother's milk tea. It has since returned to normal. I asked my LC for tips and she said I could nurse my DD on one side while pumping the other (I work FT and was really concerned about having enough milk for daycare. I get a MUCH better let down from baby vs. pump). Yes, DD would end up nursing more often to make up for only getting one side, but that would increase my supply, thus fixing the problem.

Yes, it can absolutely affect production! But the good news is frequent nursing or pumping will usually bring that supply right back. Of course if the stress persists then the problems may as well. Best of luck, keep in touch with us!
