Default Still having terrible b/f pain!

My daughter turns three weeks old, and I am still in a lot of pain when breastfeeding. The pain continues even when I am not breastfeeding - feels like a burning sensation both on my nipple and lower on my breast. Any advice? My right breast doesn't hurt near as much as my left - it is unbearable at times, but I am determined to continue breastfeeding. I am a redhead, but shouldn't the pain have passed by now? Please help!

A lot of times a burning sensation can be associated with thrush. You may want to find a local LLL leader to help determine if that's what the problem is.

    Congrats on your new baby!

You sound like your hurting. Keep hanging in there! Here's some info to help you out:

From llli, Is thrush causing my nipple problems?

Itchy or burning nipples that appear pink or red, shiny, flaky, and/or have a rash with tiny blisters.
    Cracked nipples.
Shooting pains in the breast during or after feedings.
Intense nipple or breast pain that is not improved with better latch-on and positioning.
    Deep breast pain.
Have you checked you latch? Is there a la leche league leader that can help see if she's latching on correctly? Here's a link on proper positioning and latch-on:

burning pain sounds like thrush to me too. Hang in there!

Check ww.kellymom.com If thrush seems to fit I would also search kellymom for gentian violet. Other good thrush info at www.askdrsears.com.
