Default Benifits of breastmilk after 3 months

For the 3rd time, I've heard someone say that the first 3 months are the most important and that after that breastmilk is not as beneficial as studies claim. It appears these 3 people heard this from their LO's pediatrician. I don't believe it, but why would they say this?

who knows why doctors say that? They have the wrong infomation they are passing on! They get very little training in breastfeeding.
are they going to the same doctor? We had few doctors when I was a baby.
Most of the mothers in my town bottle fed because of the miss information that they got from this one doctor. If I ask most of my peers were bottle fed because of it.

To be somewhat cynical - perhaps if they believe this then they won't feel (as) bad if they decide to stop breastfeeding at 3 mo?

I second that sometimes the doctor says what ever he thinks you want to hear.
You know if you start the fromula the baby will sleep all night....
My dopey doctor told me that I would not be able to feed my 3rd baby because I had flat nipples... big dope.... This was after nursing the 1st 2 with miniamal problems.. I just told him he was nuts...and he didn't know what he was talking about.

Everything I have read shows benefits of BM up to one year. I don't think most male doctors get it....I would get a second opinion (maybe from a female peditrician

I plan on breast feeding my son until he is 6 months old and then he will drink pumped BM.
