Default How much solids and when?

My daughter is 7 1/2 months old. I introduced solids at about 6 months. She is slowly getting accustomed to solids, but it's going very slowly. I feed her 3 solid meals per day, but she only eats about 2-3 ounces per day! Is that enough for her to be eating? How much should she be eating at this age?

Hello there! The point of solids at this age is just to get used to eating them and experiencing different flavors. They should get the vast majority of calories from breastmilk/formula. I give my son solids twice a day-a veggie/fruit at lunch (usually 2-3 Tbs.) and at dinner-half a jar of baby oatmeal. I do the oatmeal more because I want him to get enough iron. My thought is keep taking it slow and just let her learn about solids, but don't be hard pressed to get a certain amount down her, breastmilk is the most important thing she can get the first year of life.\

    HI there!

Like the PP said, there is no hard and fast rule for solids, just that baby still should be getting the majority of nutrition from BM. Solids should be at this point, for experimentation. You may want to check out this link and let us know if you have any other questions. Have fun!
