    Default hand expressing milk

Any advice would be appreciated : I will be going back to work three days a week starting in June, once I am at work I will have access to a hospital grade pump, all I have to do is buy tubing for myself. Until then, I would like to learn hand expressing so I can have a milk supply built up, without having to buy/rent a pump for home. Has anyone had success with hand expression? I tried it today and although I was trying to follow the handout from the lactation consultant my boob was sore ( I did get some milk though).
