    Default Blw??

I posted earlier today about my baby refusing veg. Whilst I was pottering about the forums looking for answers i can across posts on BLW. I have to say I think it sounds perfect for my daughter and I. So I gave it a go at dinner offering her some bananas and avocado. It was an amazing experience. Such great fun. She seemed to like it and I enjoyed watching her.

    My question is

Can I begin BLW now. My daughter is 7 months old and she began solids just before 6 months. She takes all fruit purees, baby rice/cereals but hates veg.

Would it be fair on her to suddenly change? and if so What else can I offer her?

I was getting so anxious and upset about meal times it was horrible. I think this appraoch sounds great. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

RELAX! Your daughter will be fine, and as you said, she seemed to really enjoy the experience. Peter (6.5m) has only had pureed food for 2 weeks, and has now tried:

    avocado
    pear
    carrot
    brocolli
    sweet potato
    salmon
    halibut
    mandarin
special K (not recommended - thanks DH!)
    lemons
    limes
    banana
    potato

...all going great! He makes a mess, but we all have dinner at the same time and it's so fun to watch him play with new tastes and textures!

Baby led weaning i.e introducing solids. Has nothing to do with actual weaning per se, but means transitioning onto solids. Here's a great link: http://babyledweaning.com/

One of the things I like best about BLW is that it makes food more about experimentation and less about trying to get X amount of food into LO. It can be a slow and messy process for LO to figure out how to feed themselves, but in my opinion (and experience so far) it is alot less stressful for everyone involved.

We offer our LO foods and also eat something at the same time so he gets that meals are social. We let LO play / eat as long as he is interested. When he starts acting like he's done (basically losing interest) the meal time is done.

My just turned 9 mo yesterday. We started BLW after he turned 6 mo. Here's what he's eating (all self fed!) so far:

    sweet potato
    carrot
    butternut squash
    green beans
    broccoli
    teething biscuits
    puffed brown rice cereal
    "o" oat cereal (like cheerios)
apple (we hold this for him)

For me the most frustrating part is waiting a few days after each food in case he has any type of allergic reaction.

Next up we're going to start into lentils & beans ... so soon we can all have the same foods together.
