    Question Frequent night feedings

My baby is 8 months old and eating solids relatively well. For the past 2 weeks she has started to wake frequently to nurse (sometimes 6-7 times a night). She fusses and eventually cries if she does not get breastfed. I try to comfort her many other ways but she will cry loudly and persistently until she nurses. She doesn't breastfeed for long (about 2-4 min. each time) and she is drinking at least some milk. At first I thought it might have been her first two teeth, but it is still happening even though teething pain has subsided. It seems to me that she has been conditioned to think she needs to nurse to fall asleep. She does the same for naps during the day. She sleeps in our bedroom because I am up so often with her. From the beginning I often let her fall asleep at the breast. Was this wrong of me to do? How can I discourage her from nursing so frequently at night? AND from always needing to nurse in order to sleep? Any advice or tips would be much appreciated!

If its just a sucking thing, you might consider using a passi and stripping down to bare breast and rocking during the day. Sometimes I can trick baby Will into a nap that way. Eventually they will accept the passi and some rocking. Thats just what I did- maybe its helpful, I know lots of folks are anti-passi.
