We have the exact same problem (my son doesn't like water, or anything liquid that doesn't come from the breast for that matter). I don't know how to make him drink some but I'm there with you He doesn't take a bottle, sippy cup or anything but he is very interested in what I'm drinking from my cup so sometimes I take some water with a regular cup and pretend to drink it then he wants to drink some too. He spits most of it out, makes funny faces and stuff but swallows a little bit in the mean time. I am hoping he'll get the taste of it from those couple of sips per day and one day drink more by himself but it could just be wishful thinking of course

Are straws really okay? I heard they cause more gas? My ds would love to drink out of a straw. The few times I've let him; he does really well. I wondered what age was okay to start a straw.

Try using one of the sippy cups with a straw rather than spout. We tried several different sippies and once we finally got that one, Kesiah took to it like a fish to water. The ones we use are made by Nuby and available at Target.

Are you sure your LO needs water? If he's still bf'd he may be meeting all his hydration needs. If you really do think he needs water, though, here are some ways to make water more enticing:

    1. Make it ice cold. For some reason, the kiddos seem to like it better when it's cold.

    2. Try putting a piece of watermelon or something in it to give it a little flavor

    3. As a last resort, try juicy water (water with just a splash of juice) reducing the amount of juice you use over time until it's just water.

    Good luck

Maybe it has something to do with teething and numbing the pain a little...?

    Just a passing thought.
