    Post Pain during breastfeeding

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this...I am having pain during bf but it's not the nipple...it's more like the areola. My LO latches on well then a few minutes into the feeding I feel pain...almost like a pinch each time she sucks and always on the underside of the breast. I tried different positions but the pain is still there. I tried changing positions during a feed much to the LO's dismay and the pain persists. It's not terribly painful to the point that I can't bf, but I am fearing that it continue and worsen. It's not at every feeding and is starting to occur on both sides. I was wondering if it was a latching problem or something else. I don't see any signs of redness or infection and the LO is eating well. Has anyone experienced this?

I took any pain as an excuse to take the baby to bed and rest.
You don't want to get a plugged duct or worse.

Do you have a strong letdown that she is trying to control? (Do you see milk spraying if you take her off?)

I am not sure why but the pain has subsided. I am thinking maybe she wasn't latching on properly or "falling off" the nursing pillow causing her to be positioned in a funny way. I noticed that the pillow I normally use isn't as firm as the pillow I used at my mom's. While at my mom's she latched perfectly and without any pain. So maybe that was the problem...

But now I have a new issue...I noticed a skin tag at the base of my left nipple. It's very painful when manipulated, but while she's latched on correctly it doesn't bother me while she feeds as long as she's in the correct position. Has anyone heard of or experienced this? It wasn't there a few days ago and it's only on the left breast. I couldn't tell if it's a blister but it looks more like a dark skin tag. Any way to treat this?
