What is Gripe water, I guess I can look that up and where do you get it?
    Thanks again, Glennysmom
You know I am all for trying to not over medicate - but i am also one for doing what works.

I have probably paid the tylenol and motrin executives salaries over the years...lol. She is fine - the dr always assured me of it. BUT - i will say the dr did give me tylenol with codine at one point - and she had to take it less frequntly.

Gripe Water - I sent you an email. I get it at Judy's Intimate Apparel http://www.judysintimateapparel.com/ - They do custom nursing bras (up to size "J" and sell all sorts of cool nursing things - including Gripe Water. I am not sure if they will ship it - if not i will get it for you and send it.

You can get gripe water almost anywhere here, i.e. pharmacies, Wal-mart, grocery stores, all in the baby section. It also helps with gas, stomach discomforts, colic. Great stuff.

When you say he is on Motrin or Tylenol 24/7, how many doses does he get a day? Is it over the maximum recommended amount?

I hate to say this and I don't want to scare you, but, I have a cousin whose parents gave him tylenol every night as a child so that he would sleep and he became a drug addict. Almost like he couldn't fall asleep without it after a while. Please don't be upset with me for bringing this up, but what if.

I was also a drug and alcohol treatment specialist - and tylenol and motrin have ZERO proven effects on later drug addiction when given according to the directions. ZERO. Any substance, given in excess of the manufacturer or dr directions - consistantly - can lead to negitive effects.

I don't think it is fair to scare a mother giving her son tylenol that he may become a drug addict because of it.

Thanks again to all that have posted.
I went out and bought Hylands teething tablets yesterday and he was a much happier boy yesterday and only wook me up two times last night and he nursed well both times!!! Hooray!! I popped the tablets in his mouth both times he wook up last night. Yesterday he also nursed an extra time in the day which is a big improvement!
Today, however he is crankier than usual for first thing in the morning. He seems to be in agony putting his whole fist in his mouth. I've tried frozen wash cloths, teeting rings, frozen fruit etc but he isn't interested. He will take a pacifier but I like to keep those for the crib and car seat. I just put a bagel in the freezer but I'll have to keep a close eye on it so he doesn't bite a big piece off once it thaws. The dogs will probably steal it from him anyway. It is hard to distract him when he is like this. He just wants to be carried and then gets tired of being carried and wants down and then right back up again. Last night before bed I gave him tylenol and the teething tablets which seemed to work wonderfully but it is a little early to tell. I gave him tylenol again along with tablets before his nap at 9AM. I was really hoping to decrease his tylenol/motrin consumption. Someone asked how much motrin or tylenol do I give--I keep it under the recommended daily allowance--it just seems like too much when given daily for months instead of a week. I consulted my doctor and he said to keep giving it to him. It doesn't help that when I take Glenn in to see the doctor he just smiles and grins the entire time--he's a real flirt. As soon as we leave he is in misery again??? I may have to get the doctor to prescribe him stronger stuff if he doesn't get any better soon. I feel sorry for the day care personnel who are going to be taking care of him in a few weeks--he is a handful right now with this teething pain that just won't let up. He was bad for a few days here and there when his bottom teeth came in but the top 4 are driving him bonkers. It also hurts me when he nurses--more so on the right side than the left but its bearable--I'm just glad he is nursing again. I'll keep the board posted. Thanks again everyone for your concern and advice, Glennysmom
