Default How to scald BM? (stove-top)

Ok, so after reading other posts on scalding BM, I realize that excessive lipase is the cause for the foul smell of my frozen BM. It's too bad I didn't figure this out until I had several hundred ounces of milk stored That's a whole other story ...

Perhaps this is a silly question, but how do you scald it? I know how to scald, but I'm not sure if you just pour the milk into a pot and then transfer to bottles/bags to freeze or do you have the milk in bottles first and then put them in a pot of water to scald?

    To scald milk:

Heat milk to about 180 F (82 C), or until you see little bubbles around the edge of the pan (not to a full, rolling boil).
Quickly cool and store the milk.
Scalding the milk will destroy some of the antiinfective properties of the milk and may lower some nutrient levels, but this is not likely to be an issue unless all of the milk that baby is receiving has been heat-treated.

Express the milk into the bottle as normal. Then scald. Then transfer the milk to your preferred storage container.
