    Unhappy pinpointing gas caus...

LO is 8 weeks old, and i thought that the gas issue was getting better. i cut out nut products and things seemed to slowly start getting less gassy. i dont eat much dairy at all--maybe the 3 TB of cream in my coffee (though i dont ever get to finish the cup ), but not much more. it may be me overthinking, but i might say that the tri-vi-sol vitamins make it worse. but vitamins causing gas?? any advice or similar experiences? he is miserable by day's end, and we live on mylicon in the evenings..........
any and all help is appreciated

You poor dear...and your poor LO. Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of advice, but what I will share is that my ped once told me, anything that makes you gassy will make your babe gassy most likely...and that was completely true for us. It wasn't dairy or any of the other tell tale supposed foods. It was anything that bothered me, bothered her. Is there anything in particular that you can think of that you are eating that maybe seem really healthy for you, but causes you gas? If so, try avoiding that for a few days and see if that helps at all. Is your LO on BM only?

I had the same experiance when I started the vitamine drops. They smell aweful and when I didn't give them to her she was much happier! We live on gas drops some days and the Ped told me you can't over dose them on it and if it helps go for it! He also told me "rule of thumb if it goes on a pizza it will likely cause gas in your BF baby"
From what I have experience as my LO got older she was able to tolerate a lot more things. Not much bothers her any more.
    Hope this helps a little,

What you eat that gives you gas does not cause gas in your baby. here's an explanation from kellymom.com

"Eating certain foods may cause gas in mom due to the normal breakdown of some of the undigested carbohydrates (sugar, starches, soluble fiber) by bacteria in the large intestine (see Gas in the digestive tract).

However, breastmilk is made from what passes into mom's blood, not what is in her stomach or digestive track. Neither the gas nor the undigested carbohydrates (whose breakdown can cause gas in mom) pass into mom's blood, so it is impossible for these things to pass into your milk to make your baby gassy. "
    find that here: http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/mom-foods.html

I've heard lots of moms whose babies were gassy due to vitamin drops. Breastfed babies usually don't need vitamins but many docs prescribe then anyway. Here's an LLL link to info on vitamins.
