Unhappy stressed out about my milk supply

i am nursing both my twin son and daughter, they are 3 months old--everything was going fine until a few days ago when my son became quite fussy while i try to feed him. ive tryied everything from washing my breasts, changing position- feeding him laying down, walking with him- nothing seems to work. in the end, after an hour or so of trying, i settle him down and give him a bottle. my daughter is still breastfeeding quite well. But in the last few days it seems as thought my breats are no longer full as they usually are, matter of fact i feel they are quite empty. this has really been stressing me out. should i be eating more to produce more milk? i dont want to quit nursing either of them. what should i do??

It sounds to me like your son is going through a nursing strike. Many moms worry that something is wrong with their milk, or that their milk is suddenly "gone" when a baby goes on strike, but that is usually not the case. Since your daughter continues to nurse well, your milk supply is probably not the issue.

Here is a link to some great information on nursing strikes and what you can do to get your baby back to the breast: http://www.llli.org/FAQ/strike.html .

This article has some of the same information, but is a little more in depth: http://www.llli.org/NB/NBNovDec92p173.html .

    I hope that helps.

    Hang in there,

    Tiana
