Default No Poop starting at 5 1/2 months?

    Hello

My LO is 5 1/2 months old and just starting having those reallllly spaced out poops. Once every few days, and when he poops its once that day. its darker brown than before and smellier!!Still runny though.
My question is, shouldn't this have happened earlier? I was expecting it at around 7-8 weeks, or 3 months or something? Is this just a mis-calculation on my part? does it normally happen this late? could he possibly be constipated?? I do think he is straining sometimes, but to no avail. He is only breastfed and we have not began solids yet.

    Thanks for your input

I'm experiencing almost the same thing, though my little girl is just over 4 months. I found this article: http://www.llli.org/FAQ/bm.html so I think we're okay. My mother-in-law wants me to try swiveling a thermomator in her rectum to try to get her to go ... I'd rather not!!

My 3rd LO just turned 5 mo and is doing the same thing. All 3 of my children have done the same thing- storing it up for a few days at a time- but then they explode it all out at once.
As far as I know, that's the way they work.
They've never seemed constipated, just spaced them out.

As long as they are still liquid or mushy and not solid you're ok.

    Have a blessed day! Maria

well as luck would have it...today..there were two big poops!!!
I THINK he's saving them up so they have a more 'distinct' odour
    Thanks for your posts anyways
