Question Starting solids and milk production?

I just started my 6 month old on some sweet potatos yesterday and then he went down for a four hour nap! By the time he woke up my breasts were so full and on one side there is a hard spot. I'm worried I might be getting a clogged milk duct because I have had it before. I don't know if this is normal considering that now that I start solids he won't be eating as often or as much from me, but I really don't want to get mastitis again. Help!

nurse right away on that side or pump.....he is probly sleeping extra for some other reason...that wont be the norm.....it will take awhile before your supply is affected by the solids....he still needs to nurse just as much....especially now at just 6 months.....make sure to nurse before you feed him (like an hour ahead) instead of replacing a nursing with solids....

theres lots of good threads on solids so it would be totally worth going back a few pages!
