    Default Breastmilk Taste?

    Hi Everyone,

    After reading about lipase, i was wondering how is breastmilk suppose to taste like? I know it is not suppose to be sour.. so what does it supposed to taste like? Thanks

    Sugar water- imo .
    When it tastes soapy, it's the lipase breaking down the fat in the bm.

    I have the lipase issue, the best way to figure out how it should taste it to simply taste some of your fresh pumped/hand expressed milk. That is the easiest way to know. I agree with the pp post, it takes like extremely sweet milk. I was really surprised how sweet it was when I first tasted it. With the lipase my milk tastes drastically different after even 24 hours if I don't heat it.

    Just taste your fresh milk and use that as your gauge when testing frozen milk or milk stored in the fridge for a few days. Milk I have heated taste the same as fresh pumped whether frozen for 4 months or in the fridge for 2 days.
