Default what are your opinion for rice cream for a 5month baby?

    Hello.
yesterday we went to the ped for the 5th month check up and vaxination. She weghts 6800gr (i don't know in lb) and tthe ped old us to start rice cream once a day. A friend of mine that she's breastfeeding too her daughter told me that she read that rice cream is not necessary for baby's developement and she's going to start fruits after the middle of 6th month. I'm not very positive with rice cream. I don't know why. I am afraid that giving rice cream will affect my milk supply or that rice cream will not give her more nutrition than my milk and vegetables. I think that rice cream has only calories and not nutritive ingredients. What do you think?

kelly mom's has some good info on reasons why you can delay

if breastfeeding is going well and baby is gaining weight well they realy don't need to start any solid foods intill way after 6 months..
Some babies don't start eating much solids untill way after their 1st birthday.
breastmilk is beter for baby then any other solid foods.
heres a chart that compaires callories

Thank you Andrea. Very interesting information. I think i'm going to delay rice cereal/cream. I'll wait until 6 months (1 more month) and then i'll see.
