    DS turned 11 mo today

Some of his latest favorite foods include:

    - watermelon
    - prunes
    - risotto cakes (make a batch of risotto, add whatever veggies like sweet potato or butternut squash, make little "cakes" and bake in the oven)
    - potato / bean / cheese cakes (potato mashed with black beans & cheese, make little patties and then cook in olive oil on the stove until browned on both sides)

Things we've tried that DS doesn't seem to like:

We are doing baby led weaning - no baby food - no purees - just real table food. It's soooo much better!!! I did homemade (a a little jarred) with my oldest and I MUCH prefer this way!!!

    how old?? 7 months

when did you start?? 5 1/2 months (he started grabbing food off our plates)

first food?? rice (real rice--not cereal)

    what else have you given??

    banana
    green beans
    sweet potato/white potato
    apple slices
    peach pieces
    cheerios
    saltine crackers
    crispix cereal
    avocado
    apple juice
    white grape juice
    nilla wafers
biscuits & gravy (we're southern LOL It has to be one of baby's 1st foods LOL)
    turkey
    peas
all types of white breads and crackers (avoiding wheat due to reflux)

    his favorite food: Broccoli!!!

Cheerios aggravated his reflux so we stopped those. so I do give him the "baby" cereal like cheerios but flavored. We're keeping it pretty bland right now . . .

thanks for posting, sonita.....you just gave me a bunch of ideas! (even the biscuits and gravy! i'm from the south and havent had it for ages!)i feel like i've been lagging on the solids (ds is a week older than yours) but just the past week he has been doing really, really, well with what little i give him. so now i feel like i need to start offering more. i feel bad, because i didnt get a chance to cook dinner until after he went to bed, and we had green beans....he could have so tried them! and they were so good that there are no left-overs! ah well, next time!

so far, ds is mostly just eating some of my fruits everyday (banana, apple, pear, mango, etc)
    and sweet potatoe
    apple rings
sips of water, no juice yet
    thats about it.

This is an AMAZING thread! I've been so slow with giving my boy solids because I wasn't sure what I could give him. You are all so adventurous!

Here is what I feed my 7 month old:

    Baby food:
    Oatmeal
    Barley
    Organic Prunes

    Homemade:
    avocado
    banana
    apple sauce
    pear sauce
    sweet potato
    peas
    carrots
    squash -from Trader Joe's

I have a few questions for anyone that knows.........
How did you prepare brocolli for your LO?
Has anyone made asparagus? I've been thinking of giving him that.
I've been buying all organic fruits and veggies..... how important is that, if at all?

broccoli - I cut it into little "trees", use a vegetable peeler to remove some of the tough outer part of the stem, then steam until a little overdone

asaparagus - I use a vegetable peeler to remove some of the tough outer part, cut into pieces maybe an inch or two long, then steam until a little overdone

here's some resources about organic foods and which ones are the most important to buy organic (based on the amount of pesticide residue):

    Current age: 9 1/2 months

First had solids @ 6 months (sweet potato)

    Dislikes:
    Banannas

    Likes:
    Yogurt
    Sweet Potato
    Squash of any kind
    Baby rice cereal
    Baby oatmeal cereal
    Papaya
    Mango
    Apples
    Pears
    Carrots
    Chickpeas

Unfortunately always tries to grab our sweet tea!

I'm having a hard time because I want him to eat when we do, but I mainly eat everything raw....like salads with lots of different veggies. He gags on everything but soft stuff and he throws everything he tries to feed himself.

So I've been grinding up the beans I use on my salads...and I keep plugging along with the pureed veggies.

more new foods (DS turns ONE YEAR OLD tomorrow!)

(We've been waiting until DS turned 1 to do most of the "top allergens" including wheat, so I've been getting pretty creative with DS foods)

    - egg yolk scrambled with grated cheese, cooked like a little open face omlette
    - zucchini & yellow summer squash grilled
    - fruit & yogurt smoothies
    - blueberry, banana & oatmeal pancakes (made with gluten free flour & just egg yolks)
    - edamame (soy beans)
    - hummus
    - cream cheese
    - cantelope
    - plums
    - cherries (cut in half & seed removed)
    - grapes (cut in half)
    - frozen blueberries (straight out of the bag)
    - raisins
