Default How long on each breast?

My dd is 1+ week old. She often feeds on one breast for about 15 minutes - give or take. My question involves the following: Sometimes she only feeds for 5 minutes and then falls asleep. This can happen 2 hours after she last fed. I'm assuming she would feed longer since it's been 2 hours since she last fed. Is this ok, and if not, how can I "force" her to eat?

    Thanks in advance.

Time on the breast can vary. The best thing to do is look at your baby's output. You can find more information here:

If your baby isn't having enough output, then it's a good idea to gently encourage your baby to stay awake and nurse longer.

I agree witht he PP. If you think your baby needs more milk at a particular feeding, try breast compressions: http://www.kellymom.com/newman/15bre...mpression.html
