Default UTI? Baby shrieks when peeing

My dd is 7 weeks old. Yesterday she started shrieking when she pees. Could this be a urinary tract infection? She doesn't do it all the time--but it seems very distressing to her. She went to the ped for 2 month shots on Friday and now seems to have a cold/chest congestion. I'd hate to take her back there this soon if not necessary.

Anyone have a similar experience? Thanks!

It is a possibility that there is a UTI, as pain with urinating is one symptom. Is she running a fever or acting sick other than the congestion? Still eating well? It wouldn't hurt to call your dr. in case it is an infection. It could spread to the kidneys

Thanks for the info--I didn't know that... She's acting normal aside from the occasional shrieking. But it seems to be only during huge "Mt. Vesuvius" amounts of urine. Otherwise, she'll cry when she realizes it's in her diaper. No fever, just seems to be the usual fussing... I'm going to keep an eye on it tonight and call the doctor tomorrow if she continues...
