    Smile burping

    my dtr is 2 weeks old and i am exclusively breastfeeding. My ? is, I always try to burp her after a feeding (she usually will only nurse for 10 minutes at a time), but she rarely burps. I know that they really need to burp if bottle fed, but what about being breastfed. I only try to burp her for a few minutes because nothing ever happens.
    she rarely has spit up and doesn't seem to have problems with gas pains.
    Is this normal for bf babies to not need to burp much?
    thanx =)

    It's normal! Some bf babies still need a lot of burping, but many do not need it. Glad to hear things are going so well for you -- and congrats on your new baby!

    Sounds normal to me also, I think that as she gets older you will be able to get some burps out of her, I remember my son not really burping a lot at that age either!

    My daughter was the same way - didn't really burp much at first... I thought I must have been doing something wrong since she wasn't burping but turns out this is normal... she's 4.5 months old now and still doesn't burp after every feeding but when she does - whoa! It sounds like a grown man burping!
