Default Please help extreme nipple pain and only day 4!

Hello, my son is 3.5 days old and I already dread the thought of breastfeeding. I have compression stripes on both nipples and the initial latch is extremely, extremely painful. I have seen a lactation specialist in the hospital every day since he was born (4 times) and have had a lot of help and consultation on getting a proper deep latch. However, whenever I get the initial latch with my son it is so painful, to the point of tears. When I get a good latch the pain will subside and the breast feeding goes well. I feel so guilty that I dread feeding times. I want so badly to continue with this path but I am truly scared every time I go to nurse. Has anyone else had this problem? How do you deal with it? I love my son and want to do this for his benefit, but I don't know how to let my nipples heal while I continue to nurse. I am using my breast milk and gel pads in between feelings to help with the pain but it's relief is minimal at best. Help me! I don't want to give up. I feel like I'm already a terrible mother, the guilt is tremendous. I want my son to be healthy but I'm scared to nurse!
